Fusion in Regina

boys_tug_o_war

We are wondering if it is right for Regina to become Fusion Canada's newest centre. Regina has a unique place in Canada's history and in Canada's culture.

Regina is the training centre for the RCMP, and is the place where Louis Riel was tried and executed after standing up for the Métis people.  However, two years ago North Central Regina was named by MacLean’s magazine as 'Canada's Worst Neighbourhood'.  What would it mean for hope to return to this community?

Nikki is a local artist who in the past year has taken part in some of Fusion's training and an overseas trip to China doing Open Crowd Festivals.  She decided that her community needed to be transformed. Nikki has helped build a team of committed volunteers around her and has organized an Easter Festival, that took place on April 4 in North Central Regina.

Michael, a member of the Fusion Vancouver Team, has been in Regina for a time to help network and explore the possibility of Fusion establishing a centre. Already there have been some exciting connections made with the City of Regina, the City Police, some local pastors, and local community agencies. Stay tuned for more news from Regina!
